I am distilling essential oils and hydrosol.This beautiful still is hand made (and extremely well made btw) but does not come with all of the extra stuff that some ppl seem to expect. I absolutely love that about it. You pay for the still and the rest you need to figure out what is best for your individual needs. Since distilling is an ancient method it makes sense me, especially since there are so many ways to rig these things.I will list below what I purchased and why, to fit my personal needs for this thing.-Hot plate to heat the bottom of the still-15mm hoses (outside of the hose) for the hydrosol and EO’s to come out of the coil, and hoses to attach to the water outlet ( I bought a small fish tank water pump to rotate the water. But it is taking forever to come in, so I went ahead and invested in an ice machine and extra ice trays (bc my freezer ice maker can’t keep up) to keep the coil cold. I siphon the water out through the hose when it gets full. Super easy.)-a salad dressing seperator (to later decanter the hydrosol from the EO’s).. and the ice bucket with the black hose attached was actually an ice pack for a broken leg that rotates ice cold water in and out of the bucket-Duct tape (to close any gaps)-Foil and steel wiring (to shape some sort of holding device for your biomass, resin or wood so it doesn’t fall into the large water tank.All of these things I bought on Amazon.

As a newcomer to the distilling game I did some research and decided this still would be best suited for my needs. It is beautifully crafted and easy to assemble. If you are buying this still to use and not for looks as some people have reviewed, my advice is to research what distilling entails. I didn’t realize all that was involved. After one use, I can say it was worth the money and overall easy to “operate”.

This is my very first still and I am so happy with it! I’ve used it twice already, distilling hydrosols. I was a bit intimidated at first, but it is super easy. All you need to do is buy some plastic tubing from your local brew shop, but honestly, you could even get away without using any. I am very impressed with the craftsmanship. It is so beautiful, especially with the sun shining down on it! Also, it doesn’t leak out steam from the pot/onion head, which I was very impressed with. I do, however, use dough to seal the seam at the swan neck to the condenser just for extra reinforcement. I love this thing so much! I just wonder if there is an attachment that exists for it to allow you to steam distill…

This came as described, easy to use, just had to add a hot plate under the pot and add cold water to the bucket with the coil in it. I got the 5 liter set, it ended up creating about one pint of "essential oils".

Prior to ordering this, I was unable to think of any logical reason why I needed this. The chances of my making moonshine are nil. The chances of my drinking moonshine, even just once, are even more remote. Yet, I kept thinking about this beautiful artwork all day long. I was captivated.The artist in me appreciated the craftsmanship and the novelty of the design.The historian in me loved that the artistry captured a bit of American history. Moonshine is an ingrained piece of Americana.It is like tatting, making cheese, weaving lace, and other lost and/or dying arts. I still regret that my great-grandmother died before I was old enough to learn to make her delicious dill pickles, or to make the beautiful pieces she was constantly tatting. I think I was captivated because this is a piece of history.The curious person that I am Googled how to use this contraption once I ordered it. It is amazinglysimple, and amazing complex all at the same time. A great lesson in chemistry. Surprisingly, once Googled, I learned that I would use this, and use it quite often. I have a beautiful herb garden. This is perfect for turning those herbs into delicious cooking oils and flavored water/liquid (hydrosol).I will use it to make rosemary hydrosol for when I make my oatmeal soap. Rosemary is soothing to dry and itchy skin. This is a great way to infuse more rosemary into the soap making process.Imagine making a pot of fresh chicken broth when the water had already been deeply infused with basil, rosemary, thyme, and a pinch of oregano. Yum!The only question I have for myself is will I be able to put that first fire to the bottom of the copper still. Once fire touches it, the copper will never look the same. It will still be beautiful, but in an entirely different way. I struggle with this dilemma each time I place a new copper pot on my stove. It hurts to lose the initial beauty of the piece. Yet, who wants a kitchen pot you cannot use? It will have even more beauty once it has proven its worth and function. That is what I keep telling myself as I admire this beautiful piece of American artwork.So, whether you order it as a piece of art or as a piece of functional kitchenware, I can only say that I appreciate it either way. This deserves more than 5 stars. It is art. It is functional. It captures a piece of American history. Enjoy!

This still is totally functional but it also just looks beautiful. Someone obviously took a lot of care hand making it and making sure everything fits snugly. It’s not too thin, the rims and handles feels very solid and well attached. I’m impressed with the quality.

I got this 5 gallon still to use as a decoration because I collect hammered copper pieces and my grand pop used to make moonshine so I was excited to add this to my collection. I may use it one day as it is functional but until then it will be on display on my counter. It does have some minor scratches but that is expected. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. I’m happy with the quality.

Wow! First thing I need to say right off the bat, again, it is absolutely beautiful. You can tell right away that this is 100% man-made and handcrafted. The copper is expertly pounded and shaped and looks like a gorgeous large copper golf ball. The curves are beautiful and flow fluidly into the next. It is seriously a work of art in and of it’s self. The whole thing came packaged extremely carefully in thick Styrofoam and padding in separate boxes. Absolutely no damage whatsoever here. All the welds and soldering points are expertly done and there’s zero quality issues anywhere on this.This is my first step into the fun and hopefully exciting world of distilling so I have as of yet not used it. Of course check your local laws and make sure you’re not doing anything wrong or illegal, but this is seriously just for fun for me. I don’t plan on doing anything but having fun with it. Once I’m up and running with my whole set if I have any issues I will update this review. As of right now all I can speak to is it’s absolute beauty and craftsmanship. Even on that alone, it is worth five stars!

This 5 Litres Pure Copper Alembic Still for whiskey is magnificent, brilliant, functional, beautiful and a hand full of other words that glean awesome. Truth be told this thing is so cool that it ranks up there as an Amazon All-Star - one of my favorite items on the platform.The quality of construction and manufacturing is world class, the type of quality that seems to have been lost from many manufactures over the years but no doubt valued by this company. I am appreciative of that. There is nothing cheap or low end at all, of any kind. This is welcomed as these not only make a tasty treat but tell a story with every sip and this shine still makes wonderful stories.All that said, the price-point is low on this, for the quality of copper and construction I would expect to pay more. It is also beautiful to look at and work with. A real amazing still that I highly recommend.Old world cool for sure.
